Distributors Company or MDC was founded in 1978 and operated through its office
located in Pudu, Kuala Lumpur. The key focus was concentrated on publishing,
printing and the distribution of books in Malaysia. In 1992, the Company changed
its name to MDC Sdn Bhd. In 1987, from the humble beginnings of a family business,
MDC Sdn Bhd expanded its operations and purchased a four storey two lot building,
Wisma MDC located in Taman Permata Ulu Kelang, Kuala Lumpur to compliment its
growth and thriving customer demands.
This was to be the main hub of the company where the core of operations were
done. The Jalan Pudu office was retained to facilitate servicing customers in
the Kuala Lumpur City area. In 1994, changed its name again to MDC Publishers
Printers Sdn Bhd to highlight the core business of the company in its tradename
to potential customers. In the year 2002, to enable better focus and concentration
of the individual core businesses, the company divided itself into three companies
MDC Publishers Sdn Bhd, MDC Book Distributors Sdn Bhd and MDC Printers and Book
Binders Sdn Bhd. Thriving on its motto, "KNOWLEDGE AND QUALITY WE PRODUCE
THE BEST" today the company, registered with the Ministry of Finance, is
the key player and already a household name in business of printing, publishing
and book distribution.
Amidst its varied clientele, MDC also serves as an agent for government bodies
like the National Printers Malaysia Berhad, Department of Statistics, Ministry
of Trade and Industry (MITI), Royal Custom and Excise Department of Malaysia
and SIRIM. The company has been actively participating in Kuala Lumpur International
Book Fair and various other trade fairs internationally since 1985 namely the
Frankfurt International Book fair renowed as the largest book fair in the world.
